Carthage ranked No. 8 in the nation for short-term study abroad

Every January since 1973, Carthage students have left wintry Wisconsin to explore new corners of the world.

“J-Term is one of the most amazing things about Carthage.”

They head to Sweden to study international business and marketing, meeting with top executives at major companies like Volvo Cars, Saab Aerospace, and ABB Robotics.

They assist doctors at portable healthcare clinics in Honduras. They head to Italy or England to explore the settings for classic literature. They meet people from indigenous cultures across southern Africa.

Other study tours are held in the summer months, allowing students to perform for audiences in Great Britain or experience modern cultural traditions in Japan. Every year, new destinations are added.

Carthage has earned a top spot among schools in its category for student participation in short-term study abroad. The Institute of International Education ranked Carthage No. 8 in the nation in its 2024 Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange.
